RELEASE NOTES
1. Multi-credential Logon - For Windows 2000/XP/2003
Possible credentials for Windows logon include fingerprint, password, or smart card, and specific combinations of these. The multi-credential logon settings are configured using the Multi-credential Logon to Windows policy. DigitalPersona Pro does not provide any settings to control the use of the smart card for Windows logon and applies the Windows policies for logon with the smart card. For users of Windows 98/Me, and NT, multi-credential logon can be achieved with fingerprint and password.
2. Fingerprint PIN - For Windows 2000/XP/2003
Users may be required to type a short sequence of characters, known as the fingerprint PIN, each time they use a fingerprint to log on, unlock the computer, or change their Windows password. This provides an easy way to implement two factor authentication, increasing security without compromising user convenience. Logon settings with fingerprint PINs are supported only on Windows 2000/XP/2003.
3. User Policies - For Windows 2000/XP/2003
Installation of Pro Server 3.2.0 adds the DigitalPersona Pro tab to the User Properties settings of the Active Directory Users and Computers console. You may want to apply user properties on an exception basis to increase the overall level of security for your network. User Properties override the computer policies.
4. Extended Template Format (XTF)
XTF is the new default template format used for fingerprint registration. XTF provides improved recognition performance, especially for users with poor quality fingerprints. The XTF template size is approximately 1.5kb. If there are space constraints, you can change the default to the Basic Template Format (BTF) using the Group Policy Editor.
5. False Accept Rate (FAR)
The default setting for the False Accept Rate has been changed to 1:100,000. This setting can be adjusted using the Group Policy Editor.
6. Language Support
Language Support in DigitalPersona Pro 3.2 includes English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.
7. U.are.U 4000B fingerprint reader support
Pro Server and Workstation 3.2.0 support a new DigitalPersona fingerprint reader named U.are.U 4000B. In a deployment with Pro Server, the optimal recognition performance, when using 4000B readers, is achieved with Pro Server 3.1 and 3.2. It is strongly recommended to upgrade Pro Server earlier than 3.1.
8. One Touch SignOn (Pro Workstation 3.2.0)
One Touch SignOn has been improved to support more applications, including:
- Citrix clients: DOS 32-bit, NFuse, and Java clients
- VPN logon: Cisco, Checkpoint
In addition, One Touch SignOn allows You to create templates manually if fields cannot be detected automatically in your Web site and program logon screens. Use this feature to create templates for terminal emulator applications and non-standard Windows applications.
9. Diagnostic Center (Pro Workstation 3.2.0)
The Diagnostic Center utility is able to detect a number of configuration and Pro Server connection issues before and after installation. It also provides information on how to resolve the issues found.
